Step aboard the PS Emmylou for a 6 night all the rivers run cruise where nature, yesteryear, relaxation and Australian TV history seamlessly blend together into an unforgettable experience.
This cruise, that pays homage to its namesake novel, starring Emmylou as PS Providence, will see you spending your days listening to Kookaburras’ song and watching flocks of galahs fly overhead. Evenings pass watching the sunset through towering Red Gums before the moon rises over the Mighty Murray. You can also partake in movie nights where the 1984 movie adaptation is played, allowing our guests to reminisce about way back when.
Onshore tours will take you to popular and lesser-known places of historical, geographical and cultural significance, where you will learn about the rich history of this beautiful river area.

Guest Reviews
We chose to cruise with Murray River Paddlesteamers after our planned ocean cruise was cancelled due to Covid-19. It was and should have been our first option because the Crew aboard PS Emmylou were marvelous. The level of customer service and interaction with passengers was exemplary. With only 16 passengers the staff addressed each person by name and any request was dealt with immediately. The quality of the meals was well above expectations particularly coming out of a small galley. In fact the whole journey exceeded our expectations. We thoroughly recommend this journey, forget about ocean cruising and go Australian river cruising instead.
The six day cruise called " All the rivers run", was a good cruise for us as my wife had diminished sight. All the meals were provided and morning afternoon teas which was a great help.
Good company. Julie and Greg were very helpful with my wife and the meals were large and a good variety.
After everything we have had to endure these past 2 years, and after a couple of cancellations, we finally made our cruise on The Emmylou, and what an experience it was steaming along for around 180 km round all the bends in the river at 7 kph over 5 days.
The crew went overboard, not literally though, to make our trip one to remember and none of the passengers wanted the trip to end.
We have wanted to do a cruise on the Emmy Lou for a while now... I was pretty sure it would be a good experience but was blown away by the whole trip. From the time we left our cars in secure undercover parking till we returned, we were so well looked after by the crew. Every aspect of our three night cruise was wonderful. Customer service was totally professional and friendly. The staff were experienced and never too busy to answer questions or have a chat.
There was just the right balance between cruising time and on shore activities. The food was excellent.......
Our recent 7 night cruise on Emmylou is very memorable for many reasons.
The Murray river is 4 metres higher than normal so we had the chance to go from Echuca to Koondrook and return through Lock 26 at Torrumbarry. What a thrill!
The scenery along the river is very interesting and changes as you cruise down stream. Overnight stops along the river bank with poetry, camp fires, good company, food and wine made our trip very enjoyable.
The service from the crew was terrific as we were always treated well and nothing was too much.
As you depart Echuca and steam downstream, enjoy an afternoon Devonshire tea, take in the sights and sounds of the river and get to know your fellow cruisers. There’s ample time to chat with the skipper in the wheelhouse to learn about PS Emmylou and her river history or to relax in your private cabin. When the sun begins to set, this marks the start of ‘Happy Hour’.
Enjoy a drink in the saloon before a chef-prepared welcome dinner is served. Listen to the river birds’ evening chorus and watch for kangaroos and wombats and many other species of birds as the stars begin to appear.
Tonight, we moor at the famous Perricoota Station, the property first settled by James Maiden in 1843, and famous for starring in the TV mini series “All the River Run” where PS Emmylou was renamed PS Providence.

Day 2
|
This morning we head off on a half-day excursion first visiting Horseshoe Lagoon, which has great significance to the local Yorta Yorta people. Often described as supermarkets by elders, the lagoon provides a home to native animals. Here you can wonder the elevated boardwalk, indulge in some wildlife spotting and learn about the importance of wetlands and floodplains along the Murray River.
It is then time to board our Murray Explorer, cruising upriver to where the Goulburn River enters the mighty Murray. Along the way we will connect the environment and the rich river story from pre European to the early Colonial day of the Riverboats. After enjoying lunch we then visit Morrisons Riverside Winery where you can enjoy complimentary tastings of their fabulous wines
Arriving back at Perricoota Station the skipper will invite you to walk along the historical buildings and immaculate gardens of Perricoota Station before Emmylou continues downstream towards Torrumbarry Weir.
