As you depart Echuca, enjoy an afternoon Devonshire tea served on the deck or in the saloon and sit back and relax while you enjoy the sights and sounds of the river as we cruise downstream. Chat with the skipper in the wheelhouse about PS Emmylou and her river history, or relax in your private cabin. Sun set marks the time for an evening cocktail before you enjoy your chef-prepared welcome dinner. As the stars light the night sky, listen to the river birds’ evening chorus and watch for kangaroos and wombats. Tonight, we moor at the famous Perricoota Station, a property first settled by James Maiden in 1843, and famous for starring in the TV movie All the River Run.
An early morning walk along the riverbank before breakfast will put you in good swing to start the day. Golfers will depart for their 1st 18 holes at Rich River Golf Club, and non-golfers will head off on a half-day excursion to the small town of Barmah, just 30 mins away. Nowhere else in the world can you experience such timeless, natural beauty as when gliding through the world-heritage listed Barmah Wetlands. As you glide quietly across the water in the dappled shade of towering River Red Gums, it will be no surprise as to why the wetlands are named ‘Wetlands of International Importance’.
A traditional Australian picnic lunch is served riverside before continuing to Pacdon Park, makers of fine UK smallgoods, where you can sample their fine assortment of produce. Before heading back to Emmylou, enjoy a tour of the region’s largest winery, St Anne’s, where you will taste their fabulous table and fortified wines.
Once back on board it’s time to relax in the afternoon sun as Emmylou cruises back upstream. Tonight, we’ll dress up a little and enjoy a traditional 3-course dinner with all the trimmings. After dinner, enjoy our movie night with a special presentation of Riverboats Remembered a fabulous historical presentation about the Murray’s riverboats of the mid 1850s. Your skipper will prepare a roaring campfire on the riverbank where you can join fellow passengers under the stunning night sky
After breakfast, golfers will depart for their 2nd 18 holes at Rich River Golf Club. Those joining the cruise who are non-golfers have free time to explore Echuca’s High Street shopping before boarding another paddle steamer, PS Canberra for their Wharf to Winery Lunch experience at Morrisons Riverview Winery & Restaurant. After 18 holes at Rich River, golfers can join the group at Morrisons Winery for a relaxing drink and tastings before transferring back to the Port of Echuca where we reluctantly say farewell.
